The Telegraph in Calcutta reported on September 20 on a study performed at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. The institute director said that 35 patients who had heart attacks and 17 with heart failure had been treated with stem cells from their own bone marrow. 8 of the 17 heart failure patients showed improved heart function, while 20 patients who did not receive stem cells did not show improvement.
