Comment on Stem Cell Treatment for MS
The MS Trust in England has released a statement about stem cell treatment for multiple sclerosis in response to the recent media attention. The statement says in part,
We have seen no evidence of beneficial effect of any stem cell treatment currently available for people with MS. Indeed there is no evidence that stem cells, injected into the skin or administered intravenously, have any ability to reach the target site and repair damage. Treatments being sold privately in Kiev and Rotterdam have to be questionable in terms of safety, as well as effectiveness.
I got news of this statement from PharmaLive, which has links to the MS trust.
