Summary of NPR Article re Egg Donation
Summary of NPR Article
The Kaiser Daily Women's Health Policy Reports summarized an audio story that appeared yesterday on NPR’s “Morning Edition,” as a companion to the two stories on the web site that I mentioned. It’s about the difficulties of obtaining eggs for research. You can go to the NPR site to hear the story, or you can read the Kaiser summary (they’re usually pretty accurate). It’s a bit weird to summarize the summary, so I will only say that it discusses the competition for egg donation between fertility clinics and stem cell researchers; fertility clinics can pay women for their donations, and women who donate to stem cell facilities “will not receive the emotional reward of helping infertile couples conceive.”
It all depends on what emotionally satisfies you, I guess.
