Today’s Update
Hi all—I am home alone with a child with the flu, so this is very brief post just to highlight what’s going on.
In South Korea, the government has said that it will set up an embryonic stem cell bank, work to link researchers with each other, and increase spending levels. This is reported on the Asia Times.
A Scottish biotech company is planning to expand from Scotland to California, where it expects to work with universities. No word on where or which facilities. It’s reported in the Scotsman.
Scripps-Howard just reported that the embryonic stem cell bill in Congress is expected to reach the Senate floor in May or June. The rest of the article gives opinions and statements from people on both sides of the issue. I still have trouble wrapping my brain around the fact that it is supported by Orrin Hatch.
The rest of the news is mostly letters to the editor, and my son just woke up, so that’s all for now.
